About The Lyrata String Quartet
Since 2016, the Lyrata String Quartet have moved audiences with their captivating musicality and dynamic programming. From the fiery depths of Argentinian Tangos, to the nuanced genius of the Classical greats, from long-lost folk music to blockbuster hits, Lyrata creates cohesive stories through seemingly unconnected musical works of art. No genre is left unturned and each concert program is as opposite from the last as it will be from the next.
Exquisite playing and artistic mastery is only half of what audiences can expect. Lyrata concert experiences dissolve the wall between performer and audience member, connecting not only through music but through storytelling, history, humor, and humanity. Audience members are greeted like old friends, encouraged to ask questions, and leave feeling like part of the Lyrata family.
Collectively, the members of Lyrata are musicians of ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and New Albany Symphony Orchestra, and have performed with ensembles such as The Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Toronto Symphony, The Minnesota Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony and Columbus Symphony. They are the quartet-in-residence at The Refectory Restaurant and have performed in numerous venues in Columbus including Shadowbox Live!, Columbus Museum of Art, Franklin Park Conservatory, and Murfield Village Golf Club. Lyrata does various outreach events with student orchestral programs around the city.

What our audiences are saying
"My husband and I caught a dinner performance of this quartet at the Refectory back in February, and they exceeded our expectations. They were engaging, energetic and fun to watch. They played a series of songs from movie soundtracks that spanned a wide range of musical styles and decades. It brought back many fond memories."

"These four incredibly talented and enthusiastic musicians will give you a night you won't forget. The Christmas event is one I truly cannot miss. It is the highlight of my Christmas Season. I love to close my eyes and listen as the music takes me away to every perfect Christmas dream a romantic could ever wish for."

"The Lyrata String Quartet is a versatile group that is at home playing all genres of music from the earliest Bach concerto to a high spirited rag by Scott Joplin to the latest movie theme by John Williams. When they perform their classical concerts, they take their audience on a musical journey through time as they perform pieces from the Baroque to the Modern eras in the span of about two hours. Their tango concerts transport listeners to the barrios of Argentina. Their Titanic-themed concert takes the crowd back to 1912, beginning with the stately First Class celebrations and then on to the raucous parties on the steerage decks. Their classical training allows them to play even the most complicated pieces without effort. Most importantly, regardless of what piece they are performing, all four musicians have the innate ability to connect to their audience. They meticulously prepare for each event first by honing their musical technique, but also by researching each piece so they can offer a quick lesson to help the audience understand and appreciate as they listen. Anyone who has the chance to join the Lyrata String Quartet for a concert should jump at the chance. Their concerts are an incredible combination of a listening and learning experience that is second to none."
